No risk is too great for those seeking to conceive
A study reported on today in the U.K's Telegraph reveals that women taking fertility drugs to stimulate greater egg production are at risk from life-threatening side effects. This sentence from the article would be a show stopper for many:
"They say that the powerful drugs given to the volunteers to help increase the number of eggs they produce can cause paralysis, limb amputation and even death."
I underwent three rounds of IVF (among other techniques to conceive) and while I knew there were significant risks associated with the procedure and the drugs involved I was blind to them — that's the extreme lengths I (and many like me) were or are willing to go to get what comes so naturally to other women.
To this day, I can't help but wonder what the long-range affects of those powerful hormones and related drugs may have on my future health.
